Random thoughts of a perfect moment...............
Waking up to the feeling that all is right with the world. The sun is shining, the flowers are in bloom, the birds are singing a beautiful song, The temperature is perfect with a slight breeze stirring the curtains. My hair looks like the best hair stylist was at work during my sleep. My clothes are coordinated and fit properly. My husband is in a great mood and we have something special to do together.
............Ok, now back to reality....
The reality is that the day is warm and overcast, I have a sinus headache and my eyes won't focus this morning. My husband is working outside again. This time he is cleaning out the gutters because the recent rainstorms were overflowing the gutters like Niagara Falls. He found 3 wasps nests inside. Fortunately the torrential rains last night got rid of most of the wasps so he didn't get stung.
I haven't blogged in a week because I had no thoughts that were good enough to put on paper and I need to lose some weight. No, there is no connection in those two thoughts but they were on my mind...
So...on with the random thoughts
Why do we pay celebrities and sports figures such huge amounts of money? We have people in our country who work very hard and can barely make it. What did a celebrity do to deserve all the free perks and designer clothes and gift bags for every occasion? Why does the fact that someone can hit homeruns or carry the football for a goal or kick a soccerball mean they deserve to have millions of dollars, a mansion and be glorified on magazine covers? I am sure that they all work hard and they do deserve some financial reward but the amount is over the top in my opinion.
Why do our teachers not receive better salaries? What do we think is going to happen to our country if we can't teach and motivate students to be all they can be? It is wrong that teachers have to buy many of their supplies out of their own pockets for teaching because the school system doesn't provide enough for the classroom. Why aren't all schools given the same amount per student each semester to give all students the same opportunities? Why does college cost so much that it is almost impossible to afford to attend?
Why do news people constantly refer to the bad guy as a gentleman.....I hate that! A gentleman is a gentle man...not some low-life thug who terrorizes and brutalizes the innocent victim. And speaking of that, why do the criminals get more perks than the victim. IF they are found guilty, they get food, shelter, opportunity for education, exercise and TV.
Why does big business continue to profit when the average citizen can't afford to heat their home, buy good food to nourish our bodies, buy gasoline to get back and forth to work and have proper medical insurance? Why do we have more and more "giveaway" programs for people who won't work and take drugs to get high? Why does it take so long for a person to get the proper medical care when they have given up so much of their personal life to serve our country? Why are the military sent away to fight and when they return to the USA; they have lost their homes, jobs, marriages and everything they held dear?
Why do political candidates spend millions of dollars to campaign for the nominations when they could be giving that money to people who need health care, proper shelter, an opportunity to pay off debt so they can get back to a more normal life? Why do the candidates tell us what they think we want to hear but don't tell us how they are going to get all their plans to work? Why do I have the feeling that things are only going to get worse even after the next election?
Now for the good stuff. My husband is getting into the retirement mode. He is still trying to accomplish something every day. He is still working hard most of the day but I think he is enjoying it. He is getting things done around the house that he wanted to do. He is proud of what he has done and he is mostly satisfied with the job he is doing. Right now he feels like he is on vacation. I think it will take a few more weeks for the realization that THIS IS HIS NEW LIFE to set in.
We had a nice visit with one of our BILs. He is here visiting from Colorado. He will be spending time with us again before he goes home. He wants us to visit him in Colorado and we might take him up on the offer. That is certainly something to look forward to doing.
A friend we haven't seen for several years is coming to our area next week. We plan to spend time with her and catch up on all the news. She recently lost her husband and I think she needs good friends from their early years to reminisce about the past. We will be happy to do that. She and I had sons about a month apart and spent a lot of time together when our boys were still babies and toddlers. We used to make apple dumplings together. I may have to make a few to take to her when she gets to her sister's cottage next week.
My husband and I are flying to Wendover, Nv. towards the end of this month. We will be playing the penny slot machines in several casinos.
And if we don't do well, we will be eating most of our meals at the local McDonalds.
and if we win big.....We may still be eating our meals at McDonalds only we will buy dessert too.
