Ok, here it is. According to Simple Abundance, every one of us has a sleeping beauty waiting to be awakened by love. But instead of waiting for our Prince Charming to come along and gently kiss us, we need to awaken ourselves. Writer Merle Shain gently reminds us. "It's hard to tell our bad luck from our good luck sometimes.... and most of us have wept copious tears over someone or something when...if we had understood the situation better we might have celebrated our good fortune instead." This means what we thought was bad luck might have been a blessing in disguise. Maybe we were not supposed to get that fabulous break because there was another more fulfilling path for us to take. Maybe we were not supposed to stay where we were in our life but supposed to find a much richer choice to take. ***** Every drop of water The breeze around her body Voices from the night before She was the faintest flower Her face began to soften Voices from the night before lyrics from a song***** Getting back to the original Sleeping Beauty story, ....what was your spindle? "Was there a moment when you were hurt and shut down? Sometimes the cause is an overcritical loved one, abuse, a devastating breakup. loss of a child or a sibling or a job or a numbing reliance on food, drug, or drink." It's time to wake up, You have gifts far superior to the wicked spell cast upon your life. Merle Shain also said "One can never change the past, only the hold it has on you." While nothing in your past life is reversible, you can change the future if you try. What all this really means, in my opinion, is that in spite of the sad, bad, difficult and overwhelming things that have happened to us in the past....we can learn from those harsh lessons. We can become determined to get better, find our true path, overcome the old obstacles and find a happiness that we have created for ourselves. I think most of us would agree that having material things is not the real source of our happiness. Sure, who wouldn't like to have money to travel or buy special things or not have to worry about the basic needs? But, in the quietness of our souls....don't we really just want to be content with ourselves? **** Sometimes in life, embracing your surroundings is the sole means to Contentment. Going back to the basic points of Simple Abundance. It's simple and it's abundant. Just figure out what it is that you really desire, what really makes you smile, what gives you the will to get up in the morning and start over. Maybe you've had it all along.... |
