HAPPINESS AND SADNESS
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my DAUGHTER IN LAW!
That is one of my simple pleasures for today, having a daughter in law.
Another was seeing that the snow fall had melted by the time I was done with some shopping and the sun was out.
And finally, going back to the store where I had shopped and finding my missing glove still lying on the pavement and it wasn't run over by any cars!

But now, I do have something serious to blog about.

I watched a movie entitled TRADE this weekend that really disturbed me.
It is about the international sex traffic organization. I had no idea that the USA was one of the major centers for this terrible part of the world. The movie was about a 13 year old Mexican girl who was snatched off the streets of her neighborhood in broad daylight. She was taken to an old house where there were other girls and a very young boy. They were forced to take drugs and some of them were brutally raped.
Since this girl was a virgin; the plan was to sell her to the highest bidder on their international network. Pictures of these young victims are put up online and an "auction" is held. Once the highest bidder has been confirmed, the victim is turned over to that person and may never been seen again. The horror that the victim goes through can't be completely known but the imagination can run to every extreme and beyond. A lot of the runaways are also picked up on the street and forced into prostitution. The horrors they go through are unending.
In the movie, the victims were going to be moved across the Mexican border to the USA and then taken to New Jersey. The movie said New Jersey was a major trading site because of all the international airlines available. The movie also described how girls from others countries like Poland, Germany, Russia and Bosnia would be lured by a chance to go to America. They were asked all kinds of personal information about their families and their home address to be "eligible" for free airline tickets. Once they arrive in Mexico or Canada or the USA, their passports and visas were taken so they couldn't get back home. Also, they were all threatened that their families would be killed if the girls told anyone what was going on. In the movie, a girl from Poland finally managed to call her mother collect in Poland only to be told that her 1 year old son was picked up by the organization she had applied to and sent to America. What it really meant was the child was going to be sold into a sex ring somewhere in the world.
Some of victims were forced into sex acts all along the way until they got to their destination. Some of the children were kidnapped or taken right from their homes if they fit a request profile. In the movie, one boy was from an Asian country, drugged and sold to a man in the USA.
The movie further explained that the organization is so worldwide that they have their online sources in other countries, their money is funded to another country and they have contacts all over the world. The international organization is so entwined; it is nearly impossible to figure out where to go to find the people behind it.
When I looked up international sex trafficing online, I was shocked to read that over 100,000 children and women are probably involved in this situation every year in the US alone. I have often felt that some of the missing girls from the USA, Aruba and other tourist areas that disappear, including the young children as well, could be part of this sex ring. This movie only confirmed my thoughts and now I realize it is even more prevalent than I knew.

I found several examples of the sex trade stories on the Internet.
I can't emphasize enough that we ALL need to warn our children over and over about talking to strangers on the Internet, on the Myspace and other blog groups. These people approach our children at the mall, and at the park, and in fast food restaurants. They offer to take their picture so they can become a model. They set up another young person to befriend them and then they are snatched. Many times it is women who recruit these young people. It isn't a joke or impossible. It can happen in any small town or big city or in the country.
PLEASE TALK TO YOUR CHILDREN. Show them the information on the Internet. It doesn't just happen to the other guy...it can happen to your child too.
