What I did on our holiday...
Sunday, November 25, 2007

Fortunately, I didn't have many leftovers from our Thanksgiving dinner. I cut down on the amount of sliced beef and I bought a very small turkey roast. No one ate very much of the potatoes because I made too many and in spite of my asking ahead of time....no one really wanted to eat the green bean casserole that is the usual traditional side dish. The fruit salad is nearly gone.

No one seems to want to eat the beans....they are tasty but left a reminder after you eat them!

The pumpkin pie is gone, the apple pie is nearly finished up and there is one piece of chocolate cake left.

All in all, we had a very nice, relaxing Thanksgiving with 8 family members and they all seemed to enjoy the holiday meal. My sister and her boyfriend left yesterday morning to drive back to Texas. Hopefully the weather for their trip back wasn't too difficult and I should be hearing that they arrived safely in a few more hours.

The last load of laundry is in the dryer now. The beds have clean sheets on them for the next visitors and the house is getting back in order.

Of course, now I have to figure out how to decorate the inside of the house for Christmas. We have two full size couches and 2 end tables and a recliner in our living room. The biggest problem is the huge cat condo we have in front of the windows.

There are not a lot of places to put a cat condo in the living room so the cats won't have additional access to other things...like the top of the curtain rod or the built in bookshelves by the television or the top of the hutch. I had thought of putting it by the patio door in the dining area but .....they could use it to vault onto the dining room table or the tops of the kitchen cabinets. All three of the cats use it on a daily basis and it becomes a play area and a napping zone. It is too heavy to move downstairs just for a few weeks. Maybe I should just put the lights and ornaments on it and call it a TREE!

Last year, I stuck the tree in an area between the dining room and living room. It wasn't really an attractive place to view the tree and I am not really interested in putting the tree there again. I don't want the tree in the basement because then we can't view it each evening when the lights are twinkling. What to do...?

And I almost forgot, I have to host a Christmas Eve dinner for the extended family...... I will also be having a Christmas Brunch for our immediate family.....about 10 people...

AND....my husband wants me to invite some old friends over for New Year's Eve. Arrgh!

My husband just came in to ask me what we were giving to our oldest step grand daughter for her birthday in two weeks and what I wanted for my birthday in 3 weeks......I don't know......I just managed to get through Thanksgiving.....

I have to complete the Christmas shopping, wrap the gifts, get some of them in the mail, address the Christmas cards, get them in the mail, plan a menu for Christmas Eve and for Christmas Day, and also figure out what birthday gift to buy for H...the step-grand daughter.

I told my husband to take me to the casino for my birthday and buy me dinner/breakfast there...so that is settled.

That's enough thinking for today.
