2:51 p.m. - 2007-11-03 This is for any woman who has children, had children, knows a woman with children, has grown children, has grandchildren or even knows what children are. You must click on this link....do it now....I'll wait.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W95Y8hNQiH8 Wasn't that the funniest and truest and most wonderful song you ever heard? Don't you wish you could remember all the words so you could sing it every day? It's just.... P.E.R.F.E.C.T. **** My live-in yardboy is outside on this beautiful fall day...working in the yard, mowing and mulching up the leaves...He can't stand it if there are fallen leaves on the grass. It's a personal thing. He likes everything neat and tidy; doesn't like things out of place. He is so good at this that he can make this job last all day!. Right now he is using his leafblower to move the leaves in the backyard....they are in the grassless area of our yard, under the trees...but he sure makes it look nice and neat. He has been known in the past to be so neat that he has pulled plants out by the roots because he was sure they were weeds. I still remember years ago when my poppies were just about ready to bloom in a very small little strip of dirt outside the living room window. My neighbor had given them to me the fall before and I had been anticipating the beautiful red flowers. He came to pick me up from work (before I had a driver's license) and proudly told me how he had cleaned out the flower bed. I thought for a moment...there wasn't any thing in the flower bed except for my........p.o.p.p.i.e.s.....and as I burst into tears; he asked what was wrong.... He also decided that year that he didn't like all the iris that had been growing there for years and dug them all up...... He never did understand why I was upset! But...during the many years we have been married; he had proven himself to be a good lawn care guy. Our lawn is very nice; he cuts and shapes and prunes and fertilizes all during the growing months. He even has transplanted some shrubs and bushes and they are growing. He has come to appreciate flowers and will usually ask me before he attempts to pull them out or cut them down, thinking they are weeds. I think the only thing that is still driving him nuts is a huge wild cherry tree between our property and the neighbors. I love the tree...it has multiple trunks and the ivy has grown up the tree...I think it is so beautiful. &&&&&&& Our daughter in law loves sunflowers. For her birthday this year, she asked for sunflower seeds. We had no idea how many varieties of sunflowers there are. She grew them from seeds during the spring and was so excited when they started to sprout. She took the little pots to work and put them in her office window and shared their beauty with all her co-workers. In her yard, she built 4 very large wood enclosures and had dirt brought in so she could plant them in the raised flowerbeds to keep the rabbits from eating them. She had so much extra dirt that we wheelbarrowed it around the outside of their backyard deck and then she planted more seeds. She planted some around her mailbox and the Post Office finally asked her to cut them back because they were in the way of the mail delivery....Yes, that girl does love her sunflowers! I even bought a few seeds and planted them in our flowerboxes on the porch and they came up too! And to top off a perfect growing season for our DIL, the city planted seeds in some vacant lots and there were huge numbers of sunflowers to enjoy every day. Hopefully, the seeds will re-seed next year and grow again. &&&& Ok, I guess you noticed that I have carefully not mentioned our little trip to the casinos yesterday. Well, let's just say it wasn't pleasant. We decided to venture out from our regular casinos. We drove to the Gary/Hammond area and went to two different casinos. Not only did we not like the fact that one didn't even have 1 penny slots forcing us to play 2 and 3 cent machines but it was smoky and crowded and not very pleasant. We did find the second one had 1 penny slots but in spite of advertising as the "loosest slots in the area", we couldn't get a break. I think I won $2.00 one time at the very most. It didn't take long for the smoky atmosphere to ruin the time there so we came home. I am pleased to say that although my dear husband offered to take me to one of the closer casinos where we have played before, I say No. I just couldn't bear the idea that we might lose more money.
Have a good weekend....
