Sell-ebrity.....
Saturday, June 09, 2007

I'm really, really, sorry.....Really....but I feel a rant coming on!

I just checked Google and there are over 1 MILLION pictures of Paris Hilton available. That doesn't even count what is available in print. WHO IS THIS GIRL/WOMAN/WANNA-BE?

She is the daughter of Kathy and Nicky Hilton. She has a sister and 2 brothers. She has done some modeling. She is thin. She is....is.....well......She is RICH. Yes, that's right...RICH, I TELL YOU!

So, the drama continues. She was found guilty of driving drunk, under the influence of alcohol at the very least. Were there other drugs involved....we don't know.

On September 7, 2007, she pleaded NO CONTEST to reckless driving after she failed a sobriety test. The police stopped her after she was seen weaving in her Mercedes Benz on a late night hamburger run.

She was sentenced to 36 months probation, alcohol education classes and $1,500 in fines. Ok, was that a more severe sentence than the usual penalty for such a crime? I don't know. Maybe the judge did try to make an example of her because of her "Sell-ebrity"! Maybe the judge is tired of young, so-called "famous people" coming into his court and making excuses for their behavior because their life is SO HARD. Maybe they do have to put up with the paparazzi coming at them at every given moment of every day but...... just because they are known to the public and just because they have money and they are bored, tired, trying to get a good photo-op, angry, upset or whatever it is....doesn't mean they have the right to drink and take drugs and endanger another person.

So, was the sentence Paris received harsh...maybe.....

But, wouldn't you think she would just accept the sentence and try to abide by the instructions of the Court?

She DIDN'T! She was stopped twice after that by the police. She was driving on a suspended license and even when the first police officer gave her another chance...OOPS, SHE DID IT AGAIN!

So, she goes back to court and this time the judge is upset with her. He sentences her to 45 days in jail.

Another photo-op. Paris Hilton attends several parties, clubs and Hollywood events to announce that "she is an icon to so many young girls." They look up to her and she is a role model according to her mother, Kathy Hilton. Paris just wants to admit her mistakes and take her punishment. She will go to ::gasp:: the County Jail! Oh, the horror.

She is a placed in a correctional center downtown, in a special unit (for the special people) and alone in her cell.

Now, I do agree that she probably should be kept away from the general public because there would be other jailmates who might want to hurt her...I can understand that because she is in the media, there could be some people who would think it was the thing to do to terrorize her or pick at her and cause her harm.

So off she goes to jail...spends about 3 days there and suddenly has a medical crisis. I bet she did. I bet she was so overwhelmed that she had no one to talk to, no one who really wanted to listen to her and was shocked that she couldn't do want she wanted, when she wanted, call everyone, get text messages, order Mrs. Beasley's cupcakes, go shopping, sleep all day and party all night. I bet she was really scared....really ...I think she was so out of her element, she was in a panic state.

So, probably with the help of the Hilton attorneys, the psychiatrists on call to the Hiltons and some new ones that Mama Hilton got last week; Paris was suddenly a crisis case and the Sheriff's Dept. started the ball rolling to get her out. The Judge said the Sheriff's representatives wanted to file papers with medical documents that Paris had deterioriated rapidly in jail and had not been taking a prescribed medication.

Why wasn't she taking it? Was it for claustrophobia...?

You know, if Paris does have a medical or mental condition that is treated by medication, why didn't her attorneys request that she be given the medication in jail? Or is this just another way to manipulate the Court and made the public feel sorry for her again?

So, on with the drama....This is more exciting than 90210 was in its primetime!

She spends 3 days in jail, the Sheriff's Dept is requesting to file papers about her medical/mental condition and suddenly, early in the morning of the 4th day; she is taken home. She is released by the Sheriff's Dept (without the approval of the Judge or the Court). She is to have a ankle bracelet and stay within the confines of her home which is about 3000 sq. feet!

THAT IS THE SIZE OF MY HOUSE AND BASEMENT!..

Her friends are coming over, she orders her favorite cupcakes (or maybe...the cupcake store sent them over as a "welcome home gift" but anyway) and things are back to normal for Paris.

BUT....the judge is not happy, the prosecutor is very upset and a hearing is scheduled for Friday.

Paris thinks she can "phone in" her appearance and doesn't show up. The judge orders the Sheriff's Dept. to bring Paris to court. After about 2 hours, she does arrive, shaky, unkempt, crying and obviously in bad shape. She cries throughout the entire proceedings, she cries for her mother to do something to help her. She is sentenced to a correctional treatment center to be evaluated medically and then will be taken to the appropriate jail. By now, even I, feel a bit sorry for her. Being put in jail, released to go home and then brought back before an angry Judge and re-sentenced had to be a nightmare...especially for a girl who has never had to do anything she didn't want to do.

Now, the next step will be to see if she can get through the sentence. She could be given credit for days served, she could be given credit for another day for every day she is in jail, she might get something out of all of this, she might realize that just because she is a Hilton does not mean she is more special and doesn't have to abide by the rules and laws of our country. Or not....

Based on the examples of the other movie stars, tv stars, so-called celebrities; this is not an unusual way for young people to act these days. Look at all the people we hear about...constantly...Lindsey Lohan, Nicole Richie, Britney Spears....what is happening to the young women and why are they going so crazy....?

Appearing in public without underwear, smoking and drinking and drugging as if it doesn't count. Spending huge amounts of money for no good reason, getting all kinds of gifts and trips and luxuries just because you are "someone". Going to a rehabilitation is a way of life. The media feeds off of it and we all spend way too much time speculating on "what caused the problem?". These young people, some of whom have talent, don't know how to handle the fame, the media, the over-the-top scrutiny, and I doubt they have very many real friends that they feel they can trust. And our children idolize them, buy everything with their name or picture on it, want to be "just like them", believe they have all the answers to life and just think everything their "star" does is perfect...

So, was Paris harshly judged and sentenced? Did she deserve the 45 days jail time? Will she get through this and come out a better more mature person? Does anyone really care?

The bottom line is.....she drove drunk....she got caught....and she didn't take the original sentence seriously...

so..... She made a choice, got caught and has to pay....

And I just wasted a whole blog on someone who really doesn't contribute anything to the world I live in...
