MY MISTAKES
WHAT MISTAKES HAVE I MADE?

Mistakes, I had a few,
but then, I'd say, too few to mention.....

I really don't think I have made any real important mistakes...

Oh sure, During the weekend of the Senior Prom, I didn't study for my Health test on all the bones of the body and I flunked it. The teacher told me I could take it again because I was a senior and I had an A average.

Oh sure, there was the time that we were moving and we had sold our used avocado refrigerator with the freezer on top. I put an electric defroster in it to clean out the ice. Then, my husband sent me somewhere and when I returned, the plastic door had melted. So I had to run to Sears which was downtown and order a new door.

Oh sure, there was the time we didn't have much money and our baby boy needed a new sleeper. I bought one at a church used clothing store. It was stretchy and white with red cuffs and a red collar. Of course it turned PINK when I washed it but I only put it on the baby when we were staying home and there were no more clean clothes for him to wear.

And there must have been a few times when I didn't get a birthday or anniversary card sent out on time for a friend or relative ...

There was the time my husband and I spent a whole morning writing thank you notes for his father's funeral to all the people who sent flowers. None of them received the notes. We KNOW we put stamps on the envelopes but they never arrived. I figure in about 20 more years, they will show up somewhere. and that wasn't a mistake...it was just embarrassing!

I honestly can't think of any big mistakes....but I am sure I have made some.

so on to other things on my mind....

This might turn into a rant. I read this morning that a woman who works part-time as a receptionist had taken last week off work, without pay because her husband had been called up to go to Iraq. Of course, she wanted to spend all their last days together. They have been married 22 years. So, she did take the time. They live in Michigan and they flew to the airport in Indianapolis, In. She went to the airport with him and kissed him Good Bye not knowing if she will ever see him again.

She was so upset that she did not go work on Monday. She had told her employer that she might not be back on Monday but she would be there Tuesday for sure.

On Monday afternoon, she got a call from her employer. She had been fired for not reporting to work.

MY GOD, here we go again! Our spouses and family members are being shipped off to war. We don't know if they will ever come home again and the employer can't wait one more day before firing this mother of 3.

The employer said there were other issues to this. Well, Mr.Employer, don't you think it might have been smarter to wait a week or so and THEN let her go? Now she should have a perfect unemployment claim to file against the employer...who will believe he didn't fire her because she took Monday off!!!

Kids in church!

JESUS' DAD'S NAME

A Sunday school teacher asked her class, "What was Jesus' mother's name?" One child answered, "Mary." The teacher then asked, "Who knows what Jesus' father's name was?" A little kid said, "Verge." Confused, the teacher asked, "Where did you get that?" The kid said, "Well, you know they are always talking about Verge n' Mary.

3-year-old, Reese: "Our Father, Who does art in heaven, Harold is His name. Amen."

A little boy was overheard praying: "Lord, if you can't make me a better boy, don't worry about it. I'm having a real good time like I am."

A Sunday school class was studying the Ten Commandments. They were ready to discuss the last one. The teacher asked if anyone could tell her what it was. Susie raised her hand, stood tall, and quoted, "Thou shall not take the covers off the neighbor's wife."

After the christening of his baby brother in church, Jason sobbed all the way home in the back seat of the car. His father asked him three times what was wrong. Finally, the boy replied, "That preacher said he wanted us brought up in a Christian home, and I wanted to stay with you guys."

I had been teaching my three-year old daughter, Caitlin, the Lord's Prayer for several evenings at bedtime, she would repeat after me the lines from the prayer. Finally, she decided to go solo. I listened with pride as she carefully enunciated each word right up to the end of the prayer: "Lead us not into temptation," she prayed, "but deliver us some E-mail.

One particular four-year-old prayed, "And forgive us our trash baskets as we forgive those who put trash in our baskets."

A Sunday school teacher asked her children, as they were on the way to church service, "And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?" One bright little girl replied, "Because people are sleeping."

Six-year-old Angie and her four-year-old brother Joel were sitting together in church. Joel giggled, sang, and talked out loud. Finally, when his big sister had enough. "You're not supposed to talk out loud in church." "Why? Who's going to stop me?" Joel asked. Angie pointed to the back of the church and said, "See those two men standing by the door? They're hushers."!

A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin, 5 and Ryan 3. The boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake. Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson. "If Jesus were sitting here, He would say, 'Let my brother have the first pancake, I can wait.'" Kevin turned to his younger brother and said, "Ryan, you be Jesus!"

A father was at the beach with his children when the four-year-old son ran up to him, grabbed his hand, and led him to the shore where a seagull lay dead in the sand. "Daddy, what happened to him?" the son asked. "He died and went to Heaven," the Dad replied. The boy thought a moment and then said, "Did God throw him back down?"

A wife invited some people to dinner. At the table, she turned to their six-year-old daughter and said, "Would you like to say the blessing?" "I wouldn't know what to say," the girl replied. "Just say what you hear Mommy say," the wife answered. The daughter bowed her head and said, "Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?"
